People used to get water mostly from streams, lakes and rivers. Then cities started growing. This brought many people to one place. They needed more water for their homes and factories.
Sometimes it didn't rain for a long time. Then the rivers had very little water left. People learned to save
water for these dry times. They built places in which to store water. They called these places reservoirs.
